Christmas Eve fireworks show planned in Sumner

By CLAY MCFERRIN,

SUMNER — Christmas Eve will be ushered in with a bang and a heavenly light show during the annual fireworks show here Tuesday night, Dec. 24, beginning at 7.

The traditional Christmas Eve event will be orchestrated as usual by professional technicians from LaFollette, Tennessee-based Pyro Shows.

The fireworks will be launched from the Cassidy Bayou bridge in the heart of Sumner, and the display can be best viewed from the streets along the bayou north of the bridge. The bridge will be closed to traffic from 6:45 p.m. until after the show.

Because regulations require that the public be kept at a safe distance from the bridge during the show, boundaries will be established on both sides of the bridge, said Sumner Town Clerk Toni Clark.

The public is asked to watch for the boundary markers and to remain outside of the marked area, Clark added.

Sumner Volunteer Fire Department is organizing the privately financed fireworks display, Clark explained.
