Local Habitat affiliate awards scholarships

By CLAY MCFERRIN,

On behalf of the David Harshman Education Foundation, West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity (WTHFH) recently presented the children of two of its homeowners with a $1,000 scholarship each to help defray the cost of their college education.

The awards went to Da’Nyria Allison, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice at The University of Mississippi, and Michael Price, who is seeking an Associate of Arts degree in computer science from Coahoma Community College.

The two recipients are pictured above with Habitat officers.  From left are Myrtle Jordan, local Habitat board member; James Murry, local Habitat board secretary; Michael Price, scholarship recipient; Willie Williams, local Habitat board president; Da’Nyria Allison, scholarship recipient; and Sykes Sturdivant, local Habitat board member.

All WTHFH homeowners who have children in college or bound for college are encouraged to apply for the three remaining David Harshman scholarships in the amount of $500 that are available during January through the local Habitat affiliate.
