Project spruces up downtown Charleston

By CLAY MCFERRIN,

Monday, Erron Biggins (left), Charleston Mayor Sedrick Smith (on ladder) and Jermaine Johnson apply fresh paint to an old commercial building on the west side of the Charleston Court Square. A part of the Charleston Main Street Association’s “Main Street Reimagined” project, the beautification effort is utilizing volunteers and donated paint to give a facelift to numerous stores, many of them vacant, on Court Square and Main Street. This building, longtime home to Charleston Drug Co., last housed Charleston Beauty Supply.  (Photo by Clay McFerrin)
