CHARLESTON — Elizabeth Marie Sharkey Keglar, age 103, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, where she was a member, with interment following in St. John Cemetery. Delta Burial Service had charge of arrangements.
She was born Nov. 12, 1914.
She was a retired teacher, educating young minds for more than 40 years. She was active in her community, serving as a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, NAACP Retired Teachers, the local chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Charleston Day Organization.
She was named a Living Legend by the Charleston Arts and Revitalization Effort.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Keglar Sr.
She is survived by her son, Morgan Keglar Jr. if Indianapolis, Indiana; her children, Eric Keglar of Charleston and William Bernard of St. Louis, who she raised; a granddaughter, Sharron Seals; and 5 great-grandchildren.
