CHARLESTON — Lucy Mae Garvin Boyd, age 87, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 27, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
A long-time columnist and employee of The Sun-Sentinel, she was a member of Faith Fellowship Church of near Grenada.
She is survived by two sisters, Nedra Ann Coleman of Bartlett, Tenn. and Dorothy Johnson of Chicago; and four brothers, Isaac Garvin of Chicago, Rev. David Garvin of Chicago, Raymond Garvin of Chicago and Rob Yarbrough of Charleston; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Garvin and Sophie Betts Garvin; two brothers, Hubert Ray Garvin, who she raised, and John L. Garvin.
