This month, we recognize the esophageal cancer, which is more common in men than women, with 16,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the United States. The ribbon color is periwinkle, the flower of the same name.
Esophagus cancer is the cancer that occurs in the esophagus along the hollow tube that runs from the throat to your stomach. Esophagus cancer usually begins in the cells that line inside of the esophagus. Esophageal cancer is a common cause of cancer death worldwide.
We also recognize testicular cancer for the month of April. Testicular cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men aged 15 to 34. According to the Testicular Cancer Foundation, one man is diagnosed every hour in the United States. Testicular cancer happens when cells in the testicles grow from a tumor. This is rare. More than 90% of testicular cancers begin in the germ cells which produce sperm.
There are two types of germ cell cancer: seminoma, which can grow more slowly and respond very well to radiation and chemotherapy; and non-seminoma, which can grow more rapidly and can be less responsive to those treatments. That color ribbon is light purple.

A prayer for our Rally fight against cancer: “Dear Lord, we ask with all our heart, please touch these special lives, bless them with courage. We hope all may find solace in your loving embrace. Heal them in body, mind and spirit. Let their hope shine a hollow light that burns forever to honor their spirited fight. Amen.”
Scripture: “For you armed me with the strength for battle; You made those who rise against me sink under” (Psalm 18:39). Meditate on this, asking Jesus to renew your heart and mind with holy and good thoughts as you’re filled with the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit.
