OAKLAND — Audrey Hudson Ross, 101 years of age, of Oakland was born October 10, 1923, to Walter and Hettie Hudson in the Palestine community of Tate County. She entered her eternal rest on July 20, in Charleston.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Oakland United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with interment following at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tate County.
Audrey spent her early years in Cockrum, where she helped her family on their dairy farm, selling milk to Memphis dairies and eggs to the Peabody Hotel. She graduated from Olive Branch High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Robert Milton “Bob” Ross, in 1947. They moved to Oakland in the early 1960s with their two young sons, Bobby and Paul.
Audrey retired as a bank employee at the age of 89 from the local Oakland bank. She was an active member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and also playing Mexican Train, Rummikub and Rook games with her family and friends.
She is survived by Paul Ross (Teresa) of Grenada; four grandsons, Brett (Andrea) of Como, Bradley Ross of Batesville, Dean Ross and Reid Ross, both of Nashville, and one granddaughter, Emily Fuller (Easton) of Oklahoma; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Ross, Evan Ross, Landon Ross, Stella Fuller and Shep Fuller.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her son Bobby, her brother Harold Hudson and her sister, Marjorie Ann Hudson Hawks.
