Have you noticed?
Did you respond?
Have you noticed yourself taking someone or something for granted lately?
Have you felt like you were taken for granted?
Feeling like you are taken for granted isn’t a good feeling, making you feel “less.”
Perhaps you feel like you do everything no one else wants to do, and no one ever acknowledges your actions or says thank you?
Maybe you dearly love someone, but you feel like you are invisible to them; just there to make their life easier or more comfortable.
Do you live in “appreciation?”
Do you appreciate the people and things you have been blessed with?
Recently, my friend has had car trouble over and over every time she goes out of town. Yes, her car is a bit older, but had always been dependable. Now there is a fuse blowing, a red light glowing, and her car slowing. Being able to take off and go where she needed and wanted to go with no problem or worry was something she took for granted, she realized. Now she appreciates what she had as she realizes it is time to look for a new vehicle.
When the electricity suddenly goes off, we may continue to flip the light switch, or try to get ice from the refrigerator dispenser, or begin to plan cooking dinner to no avail! The electricity is usually there, so we take it for granted.
When you get aggravated and unappreciative of your spouse, stop and think. After their funeral, how will you feel? When you are alone, will you mind those silly things you complain about?
Look for the good! Look for the positive. Sure, there are always some negative things in life and relationships, but there are good things, too.
Ask God to show you the positive in situations and your life.
You can start by being thankful for all that God has done for you and provided for you!
You are alive! If you are a Christian, having accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have eternal life to look forward to!
I Peter 4:7-11 says, “Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it.” (MSG)
Do we take God’s grace, salvation, love and presence in our lives for granted?
If you treated everyone like you treat God, how would they react?
Spend time with God in prayer. Spend time with God by reading His Word, the Bible, and asking Him to show you the meaning, and what action you should take.
Spend time praising God and thanking Him for His Great Salvation.
Let’s “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” (Psalm 103:2)
