What can we compare it to?
For me, I can find some similarities in being pregnant and waiting for my baby to be born. I was so excited. I didn’t know the exact time it would happen, but I just felt like I couldn’t wait!
We get ready for the baby to come in all the ways we can: preparing the clothes, diapers, baby bed, car seat, blankets, bottles, formula and all that goes along with a newborn. We want to be prepared for the great event!
How do you feel about the return of Christ?
The Bible gives us information about what to expect and signs that we can look for, but we don’t know an exact date or time.
Matthew 24:36 says, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, not the Son, but only the Father.”
Even though we don’t know when Jesus will come, we want to be doing what He wants us to do when He shows up! “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day nor the hour.” (Matthew 25:13)
Revelation 1:7 says, “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him. Even so. Amen.”
Luke 21:25-28 gives us some things to look for: “And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your head, because your redemption is drawing near.”
We can expect some confusion about His return: “So if anyone tells you, ‘There He is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or ‘Here He is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightening that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:26-27)
You can do a Bible search on verses that tell about Christ’s return and find more information that we have been given. Still, it comes down to just be ready because we don’t know exactly when Jesus will come.
Are you going to be thrilled, happy and overwhelmed with joy to see Him finally?
Or? Are you going to be shocked, terrified and overwhelmed with terror because you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior in faith and had His grace forgive you of your sins?
