It’s just that time of year.
Except for the Christmas holiday season, this is always the busiest time of year for everyone, with weddings, graduations, school field trips and so many more events to pack calendars until summer arrives. The CARE calendar is also filled with numerous events to welcome summer and even take you into the fall.
It is time to saddle up your horses again for our Kentucky Derby Watch Party on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Charleston home of Patti and Ken Gregory.
A fun afternoon filled with numerous Derby activities awaits you. Trophies for the “Most Original Hat” and “Most Traditional Hat” will be awarded. Pick your favorite horse to bet on during the race, while you sip on cool peach tea. Mint juleps will also be available to ensure that attendees experience the festive atmosphere of Churchill Downs.
And then there are those two little words, “Summer Camp!” CARE continues to add more and more summer camp opportunities for members of the community who are young and young-at-heart. We will begin camp in June again this year to accommodate all the classes and workshops that we have planned. Registration will open in mid-May and will continue until all sessions are filled.
As we transition into fall, our Gateway to the Delta Festival is coming together and our planning team is already hard at work. Craft and food vendors are signing up, the T-shirt and poster artwork is being designed, and the musical lineup is coming together. Mark Oct. 10 on your calendar now so that you are ready for another fun-filled day in Charleston.
