The thermostat on the Bank of Commerce has already shown 90 degrees on several days and the mosquitoes are everywhere. Must mean that summer is here! And that means that it is time for Summer Camp at CARE!
CARE has released its summer camp schedule and has added a few more options this summer for community members of all ages.
Art Camp for children will be held Tuesday, June 25, through Thursday, June 27. The morning session will occur at 10 a.m., while the afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. The camp is free for children ages 5 to 12, but registration is required due to the number of seats available.
Karate Camp will begin on Tuesday, July 9, but will only have afternoon sessions beginning at 1.
Dance Camp will begin on Tuesday, July 16, and will follow the same general schedule as Art Camp. Dance Camp will occur for three days with sessions at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Our Teen Art classes were a huge hit last summer and filled almost immediately, so we will offer these classes again this summer. Teen Art will be taught on July 16 and July 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The classes are free for students ages 13 to 18, but registration is required due to a limited number of spots. All supplies will be provided for these classes.
And, now, for the new summer programs!
CARE will offer a Lego Club for children ages 5 to 10 on Friday mornings at 10 starting on June 28.
A beginning ceramics class will also be available Friday, July 19. Children will attend the morning session at 10. Adults will attend an evening session starting at 5:30.
We are excited to partner with the Mississippi Presenters Network to offer a Photography Workshop on Friday, June 7, at 5:30. Participants may use a camera or the camera on their phone. At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will take photos around the Court Square or of other items of their choice. Photos will be judged and prize money awarded to winners in each of several categories. A reception to view all photos will be held on Friday, June 28, in the CARE gallery.
And, finally, CARE is very pleased to offer a Culinary Arts Camp in memory of Joey Brunson. Thank you to Pastor Joe May and First Baptist Church in Charleston for allowing us to use their kitchen for this program on July 15. Students must be at least 8 years old to participate in this session.
Whew!
Now that is a very busy summer at CARE regardless of your age! Stop by CARE today to register for the classes of your choice.
See you this summer at CARE!
