The thermostat on the Bank of Commerce is already nearing 90 degrees and those pesky mosquitoes are out in full force. Must mean that summer is here, and it is time for Summer Camp at CARE!
CARE has released its summer camp schedule with more options than in most recent years. Dance camp and art camp will be held in June, while karate camp and ceramics will again take place in July. Lego Club was very popular last summer, so we will offer it again on select Friday mornings in June and July.
After receiving numerous suggestions from community members, we are excited to offer new camps which include Sketching with Carol Roark, Flower Arranging with the Charleston Magnolia Garden Club, and Jewelry Art with Amy and Farrah James.
Brandall Laughlin, an Oxford artist, photographer and author, will read her new book, “Do Butterflies Make Butter,” and Lyn Hardy will partner with Brandall for a painting session focused on the theme of the book.
Cake decorating, culinary arts, teen art and several other classes are planned, and their exact dates are still being confirmed with our instructors.
Camp additions will be announced via the CARE Facebook page and Tallahatchie Notes section of The Sun-Sentinel.
Student camps are free for children ages 5 to 12, and snacks are provided each day. Teen camps are free for students ages 13 to 18 with refreshments also provided daily.
Registration for each camp is required due to the number of seats available and are set by the instructors for each class. We ask that out of courtesy, you do not register your child/children for sessions that you cannot attend. Our camp sessions normally fill very quickly, and we have a waiting list. If your child does not attend, and you do not notify us, you may also be preventing another child from attending. Please notify CARE as soon as possible if your child cannot attend a scheduled session.
Summer camps at CARE would not be possible without the financial support from numerous groups in our community.
Thank you for your continued support for CARE and for the children/teens who will attend the camps in June and July. Thank you to the many parents who donate snacks and other supplies throughout the summer months. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
Whew! It’s going to be another fun summer at CARE! Stop by CARE today to register your children for one or several of our summer offerings. Please do not hesitate to call the CARE Arts Center if you have questions: 662-647-0942. See you this summer at CARE!
