A Tallahatchie County woman was killed and two other people were wounded in a multiple shooting Monday afternoon at a residence in the Pope community of rural Panola County, according to The Panolian newspaper of Batesville.
The Panolian said Panola County Coroner Gracie Gulledge identified the victim of the fatal shooting as Jennifer Barefoot, 36, of Charleston.
Another woman and a man also were shot during the incident shortly after 3 p.m., the newspaper reported, adding that officials were not yet releasing their names.
The Panolian quoted Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby as saying the other female and the male were airlifted from the scene.
"Darby said there are no suspects at large and that officers are trying to determine what happened among the people who all knew each other," the newspaper reported, adding, "The sheriff said that the incident may have originated from a dispute triggered by a Facebook posting."
The shooting occurred at a home on Green Road, just off Hentz Road between Highway 51 and I-55, The Panolian added.
