The Tallahatchie County Library recently was chosen to receive an exterior mini-library stocked with books, thanks to support from the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service and facilitated by Excel by 5.
On Friday, May 30, community members, along with employees of Tallahatchie Early Learning Alliance (TELA) and SonEdna Foundation, Excel by 5 and library officials gathered at the Charleston Library for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the mini library.

"We are thrilled to share that our community was chosen to receive an exterior mini-library," said Tallahatchie County Librarian Angie Cossar. “Community members are invited to stop by and pick up a book at any time. These books are free and do not need to be returned."
Cossar said the library extends gratitude to Daisy Carter Slater, executive director of Excel by 5, and to Cheryl Swoopes, community engagement director of TELA and the SonEdna Foundation “for this fantastic opportunity to enhance early literacy and foster community engagement right where families live, work and play. Tallahatchie County Library, TELA and Excel by 5 work together toward shared goals of supporting quality education and connected communities in our county.”
