Mrs. L.E. Frost of Charleston is set to turn 104 on Thursday, Aug. 18.
Mrs. Frost was born on that date in 1912 to Philmore Adams and Odie Williams in Philipp, according to her stepdaughter, Lilly Frost Ray of Tillatoba.
She said Mrs. Frost, the granddaughter of Green and Rebecca Williams of Philipp, was married to Charlie Frost of Oakland, who died in 1985.
The centenarian gave birth to five children, three of whom are still living, and has five stepdaughters.
As a longtime midwife, Mrs. Frost helped to bring “over 1,000 children” into the world, Ray said.
She noted that Mrs. Frost, a member of Brusher Fork Missionary Baptist Church, “totally depends on God.”
“She is precious. She is a jewel,” Ray said of Mrs. Frost. “The Bible talks about finding a virtuous woman, how that her price is far above rubies, her children rise and call her blessed, she opens her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness. That is the kind of woman Mom L.E. is. We can learn from her that if you let God be your guide, you can live a long and prosperous life.”
