A 4-year-old Panola County girl died Saturday night after a pool accident in the Teasdale community.
Tallahatchie County Coroner Ginger Meriwether said Mabry Suzanne Turner, the daughter of Andrea Rose and Bobby Turner of 221 Rollins Dr., Batesville, died as a result of “freshwater drowning.”
The child and her family were visiting with friends on Shores Drive off Teasdale Road when the child fell into an in-ground pool about 8:30 p.m., Meriwether noted.
Although she reportedly had been wearing a life jacket while playing in the pool earlier in the day, she did not have on a flotation device at this particular time.
After the child was pulled from the pool, CPR was administered and an ambulance called.
She was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Tallahatchie General Hospital, where medical staff worked feverishly for more than an hour but were unable to revive her, Meriwether said.
Mabry Suzanne was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m.
“It was a terrible, terrible accident,” said Meriwether.
