Y'all put Saturday, April 16, on your calendars for the Yalo-Ribbon Festival in Oakland. There will be a town market with vendors selling arts and crafts, a huge Easter egg hunt for the children, an Easter bonnet parade and competition, topped off by a cake walk with more than 60 cakes and a cash prize!

Although the 2022 legislative session was due to end on Sunday, April 3, by last Friday it became evident that too many budget questions remained to finish the session on time. We passed a resolution to extend the session until Friday, April 8, and we also loosened some deadlines on bills that needed to be considered and passed.

Grass cover on Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres may not be clipped or mowed at this time. The CRP non-disturbance period occurs annually to provide habitat for nesting wildlife. The non-disturbance period or primary nesting period, as it is sometimes called, starts April 1 each year and ends Aug. 15.
