The next two bands on our Gateway schedule are very different in musical style, but they have one very important thing in common – they know how to put on a great show!
Next up on the docket is Muddy Alexander, who is an American singer and songwriter blazing from Taylor, Mississippi, with an amazing blend of blues, R&B and classic soul in his show. His high- energy, gritty guitar and vocal performance will catapult you out of your seat for more. When you are in the mood for some good homestyle blues and smooth R&B sounds, you don’t want to miss a Muddy Alexander performance.
Performing after Muddy will be local hometown favorite S.L.A.S.H., who will help us transition from the afternoon into the evening. If you have not had a chance to hear this band, they are a great local band that plays all genres of music from rock to Southern country favorites.
Led by lead singer Joseph Lindley, Roger Allbritton on bass, Kelvin Simmons on guitar and with Steve Simmons keeping the beat going on drums, S.L.A.S.H. always provides a great show. They have provided musical entertainment for numerous Gateway to the Delta Festivals and drawn a nice crowd of family and friends for our Rocking at the Fairgrounds night last year.
But, the music lineup is not the only great thing about Gateway again this year. Family, friends and neighbors can all be found around the Court Square on this special day. Don’t forget to reserve that spot for your reunion tent, purchase the CARE 20th anniversary T-shirt and poster, and pull out your comfy walking shoes for Oct. 14.
Also, parents and grandparents alike, don’t forget to quickly sign up your little cuties and beauties to be entered into the Gateway to the Delta Festival pageants. The entry is only $25, and proceeds benefit the arts programs at CARE. You can pick up entry forms at The Flower Basket located on Court Square.
We will see you (and all your friends) at Gateway 2023!
