The Meek Foundation held annual scholarship presentations on Thursday, May 23, at the Charleston branch of the Tallahatchie County Library System.
Angela Etheridge, education coordinator for the Ed & Becky Meek Foundation, presented the scholarships to students from eastern Tallahatchie County.
Meek Foundation scholarships provide financial assistance to students who are entering community colleges and state universities in Mississippi. These educational and trade scholarships range from $2,500 to $5,000 for each recipient’s freshman year of instruction in the program of their choice.
The Meek Foundation was founded in 2021 by Ed and Becky Meek. Ed is a native of Charleston and takes pride in assisting young students as they further their education and select their career path. Becky is also a native of Tallahatchie County and is from the Paynes community.
2024 Meek Foundation scholarship recipients are Keegan Bachler of Grenada High School; Autumn Boone of North Delta Academy; Diekyra Bradford, Kristy Bradford, and Cierra Broadway of Charleston High School; Anna Jade Cox of North Delta Academy; Zha’Naria Davis of Charleston High School; Ellie Donaldson and Kylie Dungan of North Delta Academy; Kylee Goad of Grenada High School; Lilly Kate Griffin of Delta Academy; Sadler Holley of Lighthouse Christian Academy; Ira Jackson and Aaliyah Kennedy of Charleston High School; Matthew Melton of Grenada High School; Shaniya Moore of Charleston High School; John Michael Prewitt of Delta Academy; Dersharia Robinson of Charleston High School; James Brantley Rodgers of Pillow Academy; Ameeyah Ross, Ta’Moria Shannon and Meaghan Smith of Charleston High School; Laken Snyder and Layla Ann Snyder of Grenada High School; Janiya Taylor, Tre’Shawn Truly, Madysun Washington, Takiyah Wilson and Amia Wright of Charleston High School.
