Whew! What a week we had this past week at CARE. Our week was filled with numerous events, and we loved so many people being in our gallery.
In addition to our regular afterschool art and karate programs, we held a free self-defense class for ladies in the community. Our instructors taught multiple tips and strategies to help ladies remain calm, to protect themselves, and, most importantly, to es-cape an attacker. They also stressed to be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially when alone in a store or dark parking lot. Based upon the success of the class, we decided to schedule another class soon. Everyone would benefit from learning these simple techniques.
Up next was our monthly Ladies’ Paint Night. As usual, the gallery was packed with smiling faces of ladies learning to improve their painting skills under the guidance of Gay-Lyn Haynes. After an evening filled with food, fun and lots of laughs, each lady left CARE with a completed art piece to display in their home.
To round out the week, we were extremely lucky to display the work of a very talented group of ladies for a Sunday afternoon reception. Carol Roark and her adult students filled our gallery with their beautiful art pieces for the community to view. The large crowd who attended this reception remarked how gorgeous each and every painting was that was on display.
This art will remain in the CARE gallery until the first of February. We encourage you to stop by to view this exhibit before it ends.
Wow! We knew there was a reason that we were tired on Sunday afternoon. And, that is just January. Many more fun events and activities are to come in 2023 at CARE.
We will see you (again) at CARE during a fun-filled 2023!
