Members of the Plantation Garden Club gathered at Julia Turnipseed’s home Thursday afternoon, June 6, for a pop-up garden tour viewed in prime season.
Lyn Gates will be your tour guide in my absence. We started at the side of the house, an expanse of lawn bordered by perennial plants featuring cool-colored flowers, phlox and hydrangeas. Two weddings have been held there.
Then you wind over a checkerboard path to a white garden that blooms in April, with white viburnum and Lady Banksiae roses. Next is the camellia garden, then a walkway through a wisteria- covered pergola to the pool and pool house (Judith and Sara are on this walkway).
Warm-colored daylilies and hydrangeas border this area and a lavender chaste tree is in full bloom. After lemonade and cookies, we saw the kitchen garden: squash, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, mint and basil.
