“Every picture has a story to tell,” and nowhere on earth is that statement truer than in our Mississippi Delta.
Our recent photography exhibit at CARE reminded us of the beauty of many simple things around us that we often take for granted. As a result of this experience, the Gateway Planning Committee decided to revisit the annual Gateway Photography Contest for this year’s festival. Below is a list of guidelines to help you snap that winning photo:
Photos must be taken in Tallahatchie County, but photographers do not have to reside in Tallahatchie County.
Individuals may submit up to 5 photographs.
Entry fees are $5 per photograph (Not per person).
Entries must be printed in vertical format and submitted as an 8x10.
A digital copy of the photograph should also be emailed to CARE at gatewaytothedeltafest@gmail.com.
Photographs will be accepted from Monday, Sept. 9, to Friday, Sept. 27, at 5.
The photographer’s name, address and phone should be on the back of each entry.
A panel of judges will select the winning entry on Friday, Oct. 4. Our Gateway Photo Contest winning selection will be announced during the awards portion of the festival beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The winning photographer will receive $100 in prize money, and their photograph will be featured on the cover of the 2025 Tallahatchie County Phone Book that is printed by The Sun-Sentinel.
So, get out there and start snapping those pictures! And, we will see you at Gateway 2024.
