The Charleston Magnolia Garden club recently held its annual Fall Luncheon fundraiser, on Friday, Nov. 19, at the Charleston Presbyterian Family Life Center.
The luncheon was a success, with over 325 tickets sold. The home-cooked food was provided by members of the club with a delicious menu including pork tenderloin with Jezebel sauce, seasoned green beans, sweet potato casserole, squash casserole, yeast rolls and various desserts.
The club is appreciative to the community and the Presbyterian church for their support in this project. The club members worked hard in the preparation for this fundraiser. The funds raised will allow the club to continue beautification projects throughout the city of Charleston.
The yard of the month winners were noted throughout the year, with a sign posted in their yard for the month. We thank these winners for their beautification projects, inspiring us all to be better gardeners. The CMGC criteria for Yard of the Month includes eight basic principles of landscape design: unity, balance, contrast and harmony, color, transition, line, proportion and repetition. We look forward to admiring many beautiful lawns for the coming year.
The CMGC will soon be judging the Christmas lighting and decorating contest on Friday, Dec. 17, starting at 5 o’clock p.m. Be sure to turn your Christmas lights on. This will be the finale for the 2021 year.
Officers for 2022 are President Carol Bullard, Vice President Flora Vance, Treasurer Marline Carpenter, Recording Secretary Terrye Roy, and Corresponding Secretary D’Ann Carr.
The Charleston Magnolia Garden Club is a member of the Hills and Delta District, The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc. The club meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from September through May. We welcome new members.
