We met at our building this past week to tie up loose ends for the year. We won’t have meetings in November and December because of the holidays.
Our meeting was opened by our president, Virginia Murphree, and then I had the devotion. I gave some examples of how God had helped me and how much we need Him now with our world in trouble like it is. We are all concerned with the outcome of this virus.
For many years, we in this country have thought that our nation was so great that if some country tried to change our government to socialism, it would take so much time that we would be able to stop it. But they closed our churches in two days, our schools a few days later, our medical network not long after that, to the extent that there were no extra beds in any hospital in our state. The virus took out our churches, our schools and our medical care in just a few weeks.
Sylvia Cole prayed and asked God to help us all to do things that He would be pleased with.
I don’t know who will fix this if it is possible, but I know that God knows and we all need to pray to the Lord every day that He will guide us, and turn this country around.
Then we chose Trina Murphree, Ayden Pittman and Olivar Lusk to receive our fruit baskets and, as always, we sent our best wishes and concern about their needs.
Wanda Ivy gave us the birthday calendars which we will begin to deliver after Thanksgiving.
We had to change the way we do things because of the COVID virus this past year, but we will have our Thanksgiving noon meal the Thursday before Thanksgiving as we used to do. This helps bring our community together along with special guests.
We will this year have our annual Christmas celebration on Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. It will be a joy to get to meet our many friends again.
Also, we have a beautiful quilt that we made to sell chances. This helps pay the expenses of our building.
We also had a new visitor at this meeting, and the next meeting she turns into a member. Our president reminded the members that January is when we elect new officers and often if you are not there, you stand a good chance to be elected.
As usual, Lee Dale Sturgis had crafts for us to make to use in our decorations for Christmas. And the best part was, we had the desserts provided by Connie Rowe and Maxine Moore.
