VICKSBURG – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District at Grenada Lake is preparing to host the 2026 veterans deer hunt on Dec. 18-20.
The primary purpose of this hunt is to give back to our veterans who have sacrificed much to protect the freedoms of our country as well as to regulate the deer herd to prevent overpopulation, a Corps official noted.
Registration for the hunt is in-person only and will be held Nov. 3-14, at the Grenada Lake Visitor Center, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (closed 1:00-1:30 for lunch). Registrants must provide proof of veteran status when registering.
Hunters will be drawn to hunt in one of three locations: below Grenada Dam, Benwood, or Grenada Waterfowl Refuge.
Participants must abide by all USACE and Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks rules and regulations. Those selected to participate in the hunt will be notified by phone or email.
Any missing or false information will result in a rejection of the application.
All state and federal small game regulations will be enforced.
