Antonius Dogan of Charleston has been sentenced to a total of 40 years imprisonment in manslaughter and armed robbery cases.
According to records on file Monday at the circuit clerk’s office in Charleston, Dogan, 22, of 73 Marshall Road, Apt. 17, on May 4 entered a plea of guilty on a charge of manslaughter.
He had been originally indicted for capital murder in the January 2015 death of Willie Jackson, 59, of 10 Dogwood St., Charleston. Jackson had been shot Jan. 22 while resisting an apparent robbery attempt outside his home. He died two days later at a Grenada hospital.
Due to a negotiated agreement, the charge was reduced from capital murder to manslaughter on May 4.
After Dogan’s guilty plea, he was sentenced by Circuit Judge Smith Murphey V to 20 years imprisonment, assessed a $1,000 fine and ordered to pay court costs plus $100 to a state crime victims’ compensation fund.
In another case, Murphey sentenced Dogan to serve 20 years for armed robbery of the Charleston Food Mart convenience store. That business, located at the corner of East Main and King Drive, had been held up three hours before Jackson’s shooting.
Charges of conspiracy in both the manslaughter and armed robbery cases were ordered remanded to the files.
