GRENADA — Dorothy Jean Ross Edwards, age 81, of Grenada, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 28.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Friday, October 30, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada. Interment followed in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on July 28, 1945, in Charleston, to the late G.L. and Sadie Ross. She grew up in Charleston, where she met the love of her life, Harvey Wayne Edwards. The two shared 61 years of marriage, building a life together rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family. They made their home in Grenada, where they raised their family and shared many wonderful years together until Wayne’s passing on February 1, 2026.
Dorothy was a faithful and active member of Elliott Baptist Church. She worked for many years at Pennaco Hosiery before beginning her career with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, where she served as a secretary until her retirement.
Above all, Dorothy treasured her family. Affectionately known as “Nannan” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she found her greatest joy in the people she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and dedication to her family will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Wayne Edwards; her parents, G.L. and Sadie Ross; her grandson, Hunter Lane Roberts; her brother, Marvin Ross; and her sister, Opal Bloodworth.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Morgan (Craig) and Delana Roberts (Robby), both of Duck Hill; four grandchildren, Haley DeNoon (Chase), Kyle Morgan (Bailie), Webb Roberts (Madison), and Blake Morgan (Faith); and four great-grandchildren, Jack DeNoon, Hank DeNoon, Luke Morgan, and Rowdy Morgan.
She is also survived by her siblings, H.B. Ross (Margie), Marlene Carpenter (Drew), Jewel Bloodworth, Stanley Ross and Steve Ross (Donna), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Blake Morgan, Kyle Morgan, Chase DeNoon, Webb Roberts, Rob Ross, and Brandon Bloodworth.
Dorothy’s life was a beautiful example of faith, devotion, and love for family. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she leaves behind will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
The family requests any memorials be made to the Elliott Baptist Church Children's Ministry.
