LANSING, Michigan — Dr. Anne E. Brooks, medical director of the Tutwiler Clinic in Tutwiler, Mississippi, was a recent recipient of a prestigious award presented by her alma mater, Michigan State University.
The MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine presented Sister Brooks and two other alumni with its highest honor, The Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service, in a May 8 ceremony at the University Club.
The award annually recognizes a commitment to excellence by MSU graduates who are distinguished leaders in the fields of medicine, government and public service.
Dr. Brooks, a member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, also serves as a staff physician at Merit Health Northwest Mississippi, clinical adjunct faculty member and Mississippi preceptor for osteopathic and allopathic medical students in the United States and Toronto, Canada, and a clinical instructor for nurse practitioner and physician assistant students in Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama.
Michigan State flew Sister Brooks and Sister Cora Lee to Lansing for the awards ceremony.
Sister Brooks and fellow honorees Gail D. Riegle and Paul D. Stein joined a celebrated group of leaders in health care, education and community service who have received past medals.
The award is named for Walter F. Patenge, the first president of the Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board.
