Tommy Glenn Goodwin, 54, of 672 Friendship Road, Enid, apparently drowned Sunday in the Tallahatchie River.
Tallahatchie County Coroner Ginger Meriwether said Goodwin and several other people were camping along the river near Paducah Wells Bridge when he reportedly lost his footing on the bank and slipped into the water about 10:30 Sunday night.
Meriwether said search and rescue operations were conducted on the river by Tallahatchie County and Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks personnel, among others.
“His body was located about 3 a.m. Monday, not very far from where he fell in,” Meriwether added.
She said there were “no signs of foul play,” adding that “his sister said he could not swim.”
Meriwether said an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday at the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory in Pearl.
She said Goodwin’s body would be released to Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville.
