CASCILLA — Evelyn Pearl Minga Winters, age 76, of Cascilla, entered her heavenly home Saturday, Feb. 15, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at North Shady Grove Church of God at Cascilla with Rev. Jerry Hill, Rev. Bubba Jones and Rev. Eric Hess officiating. Interment will follow in the North Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
She was born May 18, 1948 in Avalon to Johnny and Inez Goss Minga. A devoted homemaker, Evelyn was gifted in all areas of making her house a home. Sewing, baking and cooking delicious meals for her family that she so deeply loved were among her finest qualities. Above all, she was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and loved spending time in the Word. She found great solace in the fellowship and worship with other believers at Trinity and Bethel Holiness Churches.
She is survived by her husband of 59 ½ years, Charlie Gene Winters; daughters, Tammy Winters and Jennifer Winters, both of Cascilla; son, Jeremy Winters (Penny) of Cascilla; sister, Sue Newcomb of Cascilla; eight grandchildren, Michael Winters (Maria), Heather Winters, Mason Winters, Kayla Jones (Matt), Jared Winters, Parker, Paisley and Piper Greer; four great-grandchildren, Presley and Alayna Morgan, Owen Jones and Hannah Winters and a host of in-laws who treated her like she was their own sister.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Scottie Gene Winters and Michael Lewis Winters; brother, Johnny Minga, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Helen Winters.
Mike Cooper, Brandon Hyde, Mike Hyde, Allen Kendall, Quint Rideout and Michael Winters will honor Evelyn by serving as pallbearers and carry her to rest in the North Shady Grove Cemetery. Robert Franklin, Jimmy Kendall, Ray Kendall and L.Q. Weston will serve as honorary pallbearers.
