Odds and ends…
July 31 is the end of the 2024 cotton marketing year, the end of the one-year period in which the marketing average price of 2024 seed cotton will be determined. While that price is weighed based on prices at the time cotton is sold, July 31 is the last day for the 2024 crop.
The 2024 wheat marketing deadline has already passed, and grains like soybeans, corn, milo and rice are all coming up over the next several months. Prices for all these crops are low enough that some kind of ARC/PLC payment is likely to be disbursed
Rice, corn and soybeans end of marketing years are coming up soon.
If any 2024 ARC/PLC payments is due, payment will be made in October and November.
2024 CRP annual rental payments are due in October also.
The Trump Administration announced last week that of the 2024 ECAP (Emergency Commodity Assistance Program) funds announced last spring, approximately 85% has been issued. The additional 15% will get the calculated payment for 2024 crops certified by each producer and the per-crop payment rate. The payments were released Friday Sept. 26, by local FSA offices.
Finally, an additional emergency livestock relief program was announced last week. Select counties across the nation have been designated for eligibility triggers for this program. When Tallahatchie County triggered for a designation in the program on Sept. 10, 2024. Relief will be based on the herd size last September.
