CHARLESTON — Georgia Anna Ringold Wheeler, age 96, passed away Monday, May 25.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at Union Grove Church near Clarksdale. Century Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Affectionately known as “Tootsie,” she was born June 25, 1929 in Webb to Joe Elzy Ringold and Georgia Byrd Ringold.
She was known as a devoted Christian, loving wife, nurturing mother, caring grandmother and dependable neighbor. She was a homemaker, who also worked on the family farm, and also sold Avon.
She served as a nutrition assistant with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service for over 31 years.
She was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 77 years, Primus Wheeler Sr.; and by two sons, Clay Wheeler and Michael Wheeler.
She is survived by her children, Primus Wheeler Jr. (Earlene), Patricia Suggs (Mack), Lorette Bartlett (James), Clayton Wheeler, Jacqueline Wheeler (Fred), Isabel Elaine Wheeler, Michael Wheeler and Debra Wheeler Thomas (Andre), and two grandchildren raised as her own, Stephanie (Stanley, and Marcus (Laura); as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
