Congressman Bennie G. Thompson announced Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will award Delta Health Alliance Inc. (DHA) a grant of $1,232,008 for the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Program (Tier 1).
The grant will support implementation of evidence-based strategies to reduce teenage pregnancy rates.
The funds will be utilized to deliver comprehensive, medically accurate and age-appropriate education to teenagers, helping them make informed decisions about their health and futures.
“I am thrilled to announce this substantial grant...,” said Thompson. “Teenage pregnancy prevention is crucial for the health and well-being of our young people. This funding will provide the necessary resources to educate and empower our youth, ensuring they have the knowledge and support to make positive choices. I am confident that this program will make a significant impact in reducing teenage pregnancies in our community.”
DHA will collaborate with local schools, health care providers and community organizations to maximize the reach and effectiveness of the program.
