CHARLESTON — Herbert Glenn "Murdock" Sumner Jr., age 59, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, at his home in Charleston.
Visitation was 2-3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. with Bro. Phillip Pharr officiating. Interment followed at Sanders Family Cemetery in Enid. Womble Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Murdock was born on February 15, 1966, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Herbert Glenn "Skeeter" Sumner Sr. and Barbara Sue Sandusky Sumner.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna McGarrity Sumner; two daughters, Heather Reid (Jeremy) and Brittany Sumner (Evan McKinney); four grandchildren, Loren Sumner, Arianna Reid, Caleb Reid and Josie McKinney; a sister, Sherry Sanders (Bert); a brother, Mark Sumner; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Glenn "Skeeter" Sumner Sr. and Barbara Sue Sandusky Sumner.
He was the biggest family man. He loved his wife, kids and grandkids more than anything. He had the biggest heart and would help anyone in need. He loved being outside, hunting and fishing. He loved to make people laugh and always made light of any situation.
He often saw the positive when others couldn't. His laughter would always fill the house. His family was his greatest blessing in life.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Reid, Jarol Sewell, Evan McKinney, Dylan Brown, Dustin Brown, Lee Burkhalter, Casey Hollis and Quint Rideout.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommie Burkhalter and David Hill.
