GRENADA — Howard Enos Blount, age 89, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, June 14, at his home. He was born June 27, 1936, in Charleston, to Howard Noah Blount and Hazel Mae Burk Blount.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 17, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with his nephew, Bro. Cayman Blount officiating. Interment followed in the Magnolia Gardens Cemetery at Paynes.
Howard enjoyed a long and dedicated career with Heatcraft in Grenada, where he worked for more than 36 years. He also honorably served his country as a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard from 1955 until 1968.
A true outdoorsman, Howard found great enjoyment in hunting, fishing, and tending to his vegetable garden. Above all, he was a devoted family man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved.
Howard attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada and lived a life marked by hard work, service, and devotion to his family.
Survivors include his sons, William “Bill” Blount (Vivian) and Howard Wayne Blount (Cindy), all of Duck Hill; brother, Ellis Blount (Linda) of Independence; four granddaughters, Kristin Blount, Mikki Patterson, Melanie Brewer and Sara Marshall; eight great-grandchildren, Jakob, Blaize, Atlas, Nichole, Mitchell, Kaylee, Leah and Gabe; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Shirley Pyron Blount; brother, James Louis Blount and nephews, Michael Ellis Blount and Cameron Kyle Blount.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jimmy Blount, Jonny Blount, Kyle Blount, Randy Davis, Larry Langkawel and Eddie Moorman. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Johnson and James Saxon.
