TIPPO — John Dickson, age 87, passed way Tuesday, Aug. 26, in Oxford.
The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Tippo Methodist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with interment being held in the church cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
He was born December 9, 1937 in Charleston. He was a member of Tippo Methodist Church and loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a retired farmer and retired manager of Tippo Cotton Gin.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Dickson of Tippo; son, Brian Dickson (Christy) of Tippo; sister, Clovis Dickson Cole of Charleston; grandsons, Blain Dickson (Sarah), J.T. Dickson; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lane Dickson and Sydney Blaire Dickson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Dickson; his parents, Jim Tom and Nellie Dickson; seven sisters; and two brothers.
Pallbearers are Ray Hardy Jr., Kevin Peters, Jimmy Davis, Don Allison, Blain Thomas Dickson and John Troy Dickson.
Honorary pallbears are his beloved Tippo community and surrounding areas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tippo Methodist Church.
