RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE EAST TALLAHATCHIE CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT, TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, DIVIDING THE EAST TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT INTO FIVE ELECTION DISTRICTS UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 37-5-1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, AND SETTING FORTH THE BOUNDARIES OF THE FIVE (5) SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION DISTRICTS AS REDISTRICTED

WHEREAS, pursuant to §37-5-1, Mississippi Code of 1972, the East Tallahatchie County Board of Education is directed and authorized to apportion the five (5) single member board of education districts, as needed, as soon as practicable after the results of the decennial census are published; and,

WHEREAS, the East Tallahatchie County Board of Education did cause to be examined the population contained within said school district and thereafter did cause to be prepared a plan dividing said district into five (5) equally apportioned election districts; and,

WHEREAS, the East Tallahatchie County Board of Education finds that said redistricting plan properly divides the East Tallahatchie County School District into five (5) election districts and appears to satisfy constitutional and statutory requirements and effects an equal distribution of the population among the five (5) election districts.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the East Tallahatchie County Board of Education:

SECTION 1: That the recommended plan for apportionment of the five school board election districts in and for the East Tallahatchie Consolidated School District, as attached hereto, is hereby adopted as the plan of apportionment in and for the East Tallahatchie County Board of Education.

SECTION 2: That the perimeter metes and bounds description of the five (5) school board Election Districts for members of the East Tallahatchie County Board of Education are declared to be as follows:

Commence at the intersection of the west line of Section 27, Township 25 North, Range 01 East and the centerline of the Little Tallahatchie River;

thence run northerly along the west line of Section 27, 22, 15, 10, and 3, Township 25 North, Range 01 East a distance of approximately 5 miles, to the north line of Section 3, Township 25 North, Range 01 East;

thence run easterly along the north line of Sections 3, 2, and 1, Township 25 North, Range 01 East a distance of approximately 3 miles, to the northwest corner of Section 6, Township 25 North, Range 02 East;

thence run easterly along the north line of Sections 6, 5, 4, and 3, Township 25 North, Range 02 East a distance of approximately 4 miles, to the centerline of Steele Drive, located near the northeast corner of Section 3, Township 25 North, Range 02 East;

thence run southeasterly along the centerline of Steele Drive to the centerline of Friendship East Road;

thence run southeasterly along the centerline of Friendship East Road to the centerline of Teasdale Road, located near the southeast corner of Section 11, Township 25 North, Range 02 East;

thence run southerly along the centerline of Teasdale Road to the centerline of Oak Grove Road, located near the center of the southeast quarter of Section 23, Township 25 North, Range 02 East;

thence run easterly and northeasterly along the centerline of Oak Grove Road to the centerline of Marshall Street;

thence run southeasterly along the centerline of Marshall Street to the centerline of Eskridge Street;

thence run southeasterly and southerly along the centerline of Eskridge Street to a point on the East Corporate Limit line of the City of Charleston;

thence run westerly along the East Corporate Limit line of the City of Charleston a distance of approximately 250 feet, to the centerline of Blackberry Street;

thence run northerly along the centerline of Blackberry Street, and continuing northerly along the East Corporate Limit Line of the City of Charleston to the North Corporate Limit line of the City of Charleston;

thence run westerly along the North Corporate Limit line of the City of Charleston to the centerline of Sarah Avenue;

thence run southerly along the centerline of Sarah Avenue to the centerline of Dorothy Street;

thence run westerly along the centerline of Dorothy Street to the centerline of North Vine Street;

thence run southerly along the centerline of Murphy Road and continue southerly along a southerly extension of the centerline of Murphy Road to the South Corporate Limit line of the City of Charleston;

thence run westerly along the South Corporate Limit line of the City of Charleston to the centerline of the South Fork of Tillatoba Creek;

thence run northwesterly along the meandering centerline of the South Fork of Tillatoba Creek to the centerline of Tillatoba Creek, located near the center of the northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 27, Township 25 North, Range 02 East;

thence run westerly along the meandering centerline of Tillatoba Creek a distance of approximately 8.2 miles, to the centerline of the Little Tallahatchie River, located near the center of the southwest quarter of Section 27, Township 25 North, Range 01 East;

thence run southwesterly along the meandering centerline of Little Tallahatchie River to the west line of Section 27, Township 25 North, Range 1 East, this being the POINT of BEGINNING.
