Editor, Sun-Sentinel:
I was so glad to read the column by Tim Kalich ["Brett Favre plays the victim in scandal," printed in the Oct. 3, 2024, Sun-Sentinel].
I wanted Favre to answer to what he had done. He has a brilliant spin doctor. The news reports of his recent testimony before Congress told why he was there, then they cut to Brett saying he has Parkinson’s disease.
So do a lot of other people who don’t have his funds for health care. Are we to believe that he had no idea where $6 million came from?
The floors in my 45-year-old mobile home have begun to deteriorate. I filed a claim with my insurance company and they sent someone to audit. An engineer came from Tennessee. I received a check for $3,500. That would not fix one room.
So, I went to my social worker and was told that my Social Security check is too much for me to qualify for any other special assistance. No alternatives. Just too much money. My Social Security check is ample, but not enough to save. I wish I could be blessed with $10,000. That was the carpenter’s estimate for my floors.
I’m 68 years old and I’m going to see if I can borrow what I need. I wish I could receive money like Brett Favre. I would be so thankful. I was so ashamed of him. I could really use some of this money to fix my floors.
