Mr. and Mrs. George Payne Cossar III of Senatobia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mary Chandler Cossar, to Kendall Reid Posey, son of Mrs. Lynne Young Posey, and Dr. and Mrs. Hal Posey of West Point.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Mitchell of De Kalb (Mrs. Mitchell is the former Mary Louise Land) also, Mr. George Payne Cossar, Jr. and the late Mrs. Louanne Pepper Cossar of Charleston.
Miss Cossar is an Honor graduate of Senatobia High School class of 2012, where she was class president, salutatorian, and member of the Hall of Fame. She attended the University of Mississippi, receiving the Lott Leadership Scholarship, was a member of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity, and served in the ASB Senate.
At Ole Miss, she was selected to Who’s Who Among American College Students. She was presented by the Southern Debutante Assembly in Greenwood in 2013. She was graduated from Ole Miss in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in public policy.
Miss Cossar earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2019. She is employed as an attorney in Oxford with Daniel, Coker, Horton, and Bell.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Caradine Young of West Point and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dee Posey of Philadelphia.
He graduated as valedictorian of Oak Hill Academy, where he was also chosen as Mr. Oak Hill Academy, and Handsomest. He attended the University of Mississippi and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. While at Ole Miss he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and earned the distinctive Phi Beta Kappa Key.
Posey graduated magna cum laude in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and graduated cum laude in 2019 from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He is employed as an associate attorney with the firm of Dunbar, Davis, PLLC in Oxford.
The couple will exchange wedding vows at half after five on Saturday, June 3. The ceremony will be held at the historic Isom Place in Oxford with reception to follow.
