The Charleston branch of the Tallahatchie County Library System is pleased to offer a writing contest in February to reward students for their love of reading.
This writing contest is open to any student who lives in Tallahatchie County.
Each entry will be judged by a local panel of judges and prizes awarded as follows:
• 1st place will receive a certificate and $25 cash prize.
• 2nd place will receive a certificate and $15 cash prize.
• 3rd place will receive a certificate and $10 cash prize.
Below are the guidelines for each entry:
Pre-K, kindergarten and 1st Graders: Students will draw a picture showing why they love reading.
2nd, 3rd, & 4th Graders: Students will write three sentences explaining why they love reading. They may use the space on the back of the entry form if needed.
5th, 6th & 7th Graders – Students will write five sentences explaining why they love reading. They may use the space on the back of the entry form if needed.
Each entry must have the following on the back of the entry form: student’s first and last name, age, grade and address.
Entry forms are available at the Charleston Library and must be turned in by Friday, Feb. 23. Please call the library at 647-2638 if you need a member of the library staff to coordinate a pickup day/time at your school.
