CHARLESTON — Betty Estridge Buntin, age 87, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Charleston.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 9, from 12 p.m. until service time beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Newsom Funeral Home with the interment to follow in Charleston City Cemetery.
Betty enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers, but most of all, she loved baking for her family and others in her community.
She also enjoyed thirty-eight years with the Tallahatchie Chapter of the American Cancer Society and thirty-three years as a dietician at Tallahatchie General Hospital and Extended Care. She was also a long-time columnist for The Sun-Sentinel.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Mitchell of Hernando and Janet Buntin of Grenada; one son, Jimmy Buntin (Pam) of Corinth; four grandchildren, Hunter Mitchell (Kayleigh) of Memphis, Tenn., Walker Mitchell of Louisiana, Chelsea Chase (Robbie) of Corinth and Callie Lence (Dawson) of Ripley; one great-grandchild, her sister, Savana McGee of Pope; and her brother, David Estridge (Janet) of Brandon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Buntin; and her parents, Morris and Jessie Dees Estridge.
The family requests memorial contributions be sent to Tallahatchie County Chapter of The American Cancer Society or Enid Church of Christ.
