CHARLESTON — Edward Lee Gazaway, age 80, passed away at Region One Medical Center in Memphis on Thursday, Jan. 18.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday evening, Jan. 23, and also Wednesday one hour prior to service at Newsom Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Gazaway will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Newsom Funeral Home chapel with interment at Tippo Cemetery, Tippo.
He was born in West Point on May 11, 1943 to the late Edward Lee Gazaway Sr. and Sally Merlene Cauthern Boucher. Edward was a long time 18-wheeler driver/owner of Gazaway & Girls Trucking and loved fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Hurst; and a brother Jimmy Boucher.
The family he leaves behind include his four daughters, Tammie Stonesifer (Corey), Gena Cotten (James), Penny Tillie (Steven), Leah Jones (Danny); two sons, William (Bill) Gazaway (Lisa) and Charles Gazaway (Amanda) of Charleston; and the children’s mother, Johnnie Gazaway; eleven grandchildren, Jamie, Daniel, Christie, Lauren, Miranda, Andrew, Tiffany, Michael, Kaylin, Paige and Levi; and 15 great-grandchildren; his three brothers, Ellis Gazaway (Gloria), Johnny Boucher (Teresa) both of Batesville, Ricky Gazaway Corsicana, Texas; two sister, Ann Gonzalez (Ralph) Alvarado, Texas, Deanna Gazaway Sikes (Elvin) Corsicana, Texas. The family also wants to remember Brenda Gazaway Brock of Batesville who he was married to for 9 years, along with her four children, Tabitha Walker, Martha Davis, Brian Davis, all of Batesville and Michelle Price of Oakland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
The family ask that anyone who wishes to send memorials in Mr. Gazaway’s memory to the Faith Food Pantry in Charleston or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
