TEASDALE — Gwendolyn Matthews, age 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, at her residence.
The family will receive friends from 9 - 10 today, until service time at 10 a.m. at Friendship Church of God near the Teasdale community. Interment will follow there in the church cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and also enjoyed playing games on her phone and crossword puzzles.
Those whom she leaves behind to forever cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, Joe Lee Matthews Sr. of Teasdale; one daughter, Kelley Reed of Teasdale; one son, Joe Lee Matthews Jr. (Reba) of Grenada; two grandchildren, Hollee Nowell of Teasdale and Tawyna Pullen (James) of Lacy, Washington; five great-grandchildren, Korey Pullen (Avery), Kelsey Pullen, Courtney Pearson (Jaesn), Kyle DeYoung, Savanna Varner, and great-great- grandchildren, Johnathon Blake Hawkins Jr., Aria and Ava.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel L. Shawn Todd; one sister, Frankie Hill; and one brother, John Todd.
