CHARLESTON — J.C. McGarrity, age 84, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 19.
The family received friends on Wednesday, July 20, from 12 p.m. until the service time beginning 2 p.m. at Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy with the interment to follow there at the church cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. McGarrity served for 38 years as deacon at Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy, served in the Army from 1956-1959 and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1973-2001.
Those whom he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty-one years, June Gay Worsham McGarrity; three children, Donna Sumner (Glenn) of Cascilla, Randy McGarrity of Charleston and Pam Crouch (Tony) of Cascilla; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister, Earline Fillyaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Essie McGarrity; and a brother, Benny McGarrity.
Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Crouch, Tyler Crouch, Joshua Crouch, Jeremy McGarrity, Jeremy Reid, Brian Wilkes, Benji Wilkes and Jody Todd.
