GRENADA — John Womack Parker, age 75, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, at his home.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada with Rev. Tim McCaffrey and Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
He was born June 2, 1949 in Grenada to Carl Allen, Jr. and Sylvia Womack Parker.
John enjoyed a long career in sales with Kraft Foods. Following retirement, he enjoyed testing his skills at woodworking and making furniture. He was also a devoted member of the Geeslin Corner Coffee Club, which meets at the Ole Corner Store daily. John enjoyed worshiping with other believers at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Strahan Parker; four daughters, Kim Parker (Stephen Shirley) of Moss Point, Carrie Parker (Hunter Richardson) of Pascagoula, Dawn Terry (John) of Holcomb and Danielle Ward (Leighan Hayes) of Grenada; two sons, John Parker, Jr. of Coffeeville and Doug Ward (Brandy) of Holcomb; brother, Allen Parker (Brenda) of Winfield, La.; twelve grandchildren, Jeffrey Nicholson, Mia Blythe, Tripp Parker, Dalton Brown, Kaylee Robinson, Jake Ward, Jennifer Ward, Triston Jones, Peyton Clardy, Clayton Walls, Trent Walls and Torie Costilow; and seven great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers include Jerry Adams, Lynn Blaylock, Eddie Brandon, David Kilgore, Ricky Koonce, Dwayne Lane, Samy McCracken, Buddy Mitchell, Larry Pickle, Buzzy Revell, Paul Rocconi, Jesse Rogers, Don Thomas, Dale Waller and David Wilbourn.
