CHARLESTON — Joyce Gentry, age 82, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 1 p.m. until the service time beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Newsom Funeral Home with the interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Joyce was born March 30, 1941 to the late Ernest and Minnie Aven. She was a retired seamstress who enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie James (Bubba) of Charleston; her son, Wayne Gentry of Charleston; brother, Troy Aven of Batesville; her grandchildren, Maegan Gorden (Tom) of Oakland, BJ James (Amy) of Charleston, Jamie Gentry and Courtney Ott, both of Pontotoc; and her favorite of all, her five great-grandchildren, Kayci Sapp, Seal Milam, Graysen Milam, Jessie James and Farrah James; and one great-great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Lewis “L” Gentry; one son, James “Bubba” Gentry; four brothers, Robert, Roy, Travis and Earl Aven; and two sisters, Kathleen Robinson and Frances Gentry.
