GRENADA — Lillie Jane Skinner Kennedy, age, 91, of Grenada, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Harvey Vance officiating. Interment followed in the Grenada Memorial Garden.
She was born July 23, 1932 in Ruleville to Benjamin Percy and Mattie Inez Beasley Skinner. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Jane was a member of Airport Baptist Church in Grenada. She was a devoted homemaker and had previously worked in food services and as a personal caregiver at the Grandview Nursing Home in Grenada. She was a doting mother and grandmother enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family as long as she was able.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Kennedy (Mary) of Decatur, Ala. and Dr. Benjamin Kennedy (Angel) of Charleston; daughter-in-law, Carmie Kennedy of Grenada; two sisters, Sara Maw of Kennesaw, Ga. and Inez Grant of Grenada; eleven grandchildren, Salina Blankenship, Dana Hood, Michelle Scott, Patrick Kennedy, Missy Kennedy, Amanda Cave, Mary Kate Culpepper, Keith Kennedy, Emily Higgins, Kimberly Kennedy and Caleb Kennedy; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Leon Kennedy, Sr.; son, Michael Glenn Kennedy and a sister, Belle Grantham.
Pallbearers were Matt Cave, Dan Culpepper, Lucas Higgins, Caleb Kennedy, Keith Kennedy and Patrick Kennedy.
