COOSADA, Ala. — Lynda Lee Shaw Bishop, of Coosada Ala., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 14, after several months of illness.
A celebration of life service will be coordinated by Womble Funeral Home in Charleston Saturday, Jan. 21, at Friendship East Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the service following at 1 p.m., condcuted by Bro. Ben Kennedy. Interment will follow at Friendship East Cemetery.
She was born December 6, 1943, to Carl Travis and Louise Shaw. Lynda spent most of her life as a resident of Charleston. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1961, and later obtained degrees in cosmetology and registered nursing.
Lynda’s relationship with God was the most important part of her life. She devoted her life to spreading the gospel and doing God’s work. She taught Sunday school for many years, coordinated VBS programs, had a prison ministry and nursing home ministry, visited the sick and grieving, donated resources, and volunteered for many charities over the years.
Lynda leaves behind her soulmate, Emmett Blair (Gus) Bishop of Coosada, Ala.; her two adoring daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Bruno of Germantown, Tenn., and Lindy (Joe) Denman of Millbrook, Ala. She also leaves five grandchildren, Christopher Bishop, Blair (Heath) Bagi, Braiden (Carter) Sheppard, Drache Denman, and Collyn Cercone. She also leaves a great-grandchild, Beau Bagi. She leaves two siblings, Terry (Hershel) Christian of Sardis and Douglas Shaw of Charleston. She also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her devoted caregiver, Vivian.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Christopher (Rusty) Bishop; and two brothers J.W. Shaw and Warren Shaw of Charleston.
Pallbearers are Joseph Drache Denman, Heath Bagi, Carter Sheppard, Brian Christian, Carl Shaw, Jason Shaw, Jay Shaw, Wayne Moore and Eddie Hargett.
