CHARLESTON — Martha Pettit Kyle, age 98, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, at her home.
Visitation will be 12 - 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Corinth Baptist Church.
The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Corinth Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Livingston conducting.
Born February 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Pettit and William Edward Bud Pettit. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Womble Funeral Home has charge.
She loved gardening and enjoyed cooking. Martha spent her career in a variety of positions, she started out at Mcgreggor, that later changed names to Rosewood Industries and her final job before retirement was a teacher’s aid at the East Tallahatchie School District.
Martha is survived by two daughters, Ruby Ponder of Brandon, and Emogene Rushing (Kyle) of Plano, Texas; two sons, Moris “Jim” Kyle (Nola) of Memphis and John Kyle (Sandra) of Oxford;, a sister, Carolyn Little of Cleveland; and nine grandchildren, Alana Jeffries, John Kyle, Scott Pickell, Lisa Wade, Evelyn Weaver, Karen Ruffin, Erica Foreman, Palmer Kyle, and Russell Aycock; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Kyle; her parents; a sister, Maryann Ellett; and four brothers, Kenneth Pettit, William E. Pettit Jr., Wayne Pettit and Graham Pettit.
Pallbearers are Mark Hartley, John Clyde Champion, Johnny Sykes, Jerry Milam, William Earl Tillman and Lee Crenshaw.
Honorary pallbearers are John Kyle, Palmer Kyle, Scott Pickell, Clint Jeffries, Bryan Wade and Stewart Weaver.
The family requests memorials be made to Corinth Baptist Church or Corinth Cemetery Fund 1623 New Hope Road, Scobey, MS 38953.
