OAKLAND — Walter Lee Hickey, 74 of Oakland, passed away Tuesday, March 19.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 23, at Jackson Grove Church of Christ, Enid, with Michael Bates and Mark Shires officiating.
Walter was born January 22, 1950, in Charleston, to Aaron and Flora Keelin Hickey. He was the seventh of eight children. He was an accomplished artist in his lifetime and loved music. Walter was a caregiver for his mother and sister Maggie at the end of their lives.
Walter leaves behind three sisters, Sarah Hickey Williams of Coffeeville, Sylvia Hickey of Charleston and Dianne Hickey Byars (Charles) of Nesbit. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Pat Anderson Hickey of Shuqualak; 6 nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and A. L. Hickey; infant sister Evelyn Hickey, and Maggie Hickey Thompson Schramm; and three brothers-in-law, Gerald (Midnight) Williams, Frank Thompson and Phillip Schramm; and a sister-in-law, Deloris Hickey.
